Erm, anyone want a Gremlin with a peculiar paint job, a sketchy spoiler, and an SBC swapped in?

Only if it has a Dixie horn.

I would hope that it would. Pretty sure I would have to write "General Lee 2.0" on the drivers door.

And weld the doors shut.

Indeed. And after that, attempt to jump it. That will probably demolish it, but whatever.

Which actually begs the question, how many Chargers were killed in the making of that series? I watched most every episode back in the day, and there must have been some pretty serious damage after most of those jumps.

To my way of thinking, one of the few things working in the Gremlin's favor was the fact that most of them had AMC's straight six. I understand the SBC love, but I don't know that it's really an improvement here.

I actually remember reading an article on how many were killed. I'm not sure of the e act number, but I know that it is somewhere over 300 were killed.

Oh, the humanity!

If I'm forced to have a shitty 70s ecobox, I'd rather have a pacer with an amc 401 swap.
They have a double wishbone front suspension and rack and pinion steering, so it might not be hopeless.

I would agree. While I love the SBC, I really don't see the point of putting it in this. Except for the hoonage.

I know :(

Yeah, agreed there. I'd take any Pacer over a comparable Gremlin, honestly. I've always considered them to be more attractive.
I knew about the rack and pinion steering, but I didn't know they had double wishbones. That's actually pretty interesting.

They sure do. I can't compliment on the geometry, but it probably has some potential. Pintos have a similar set up as well, except they have an ohc 4 banger from Ford of Europe.

Huh, cool. Never knew that. I would assume the geometry isn't too great, considering it is a 70's AMC product, but, like you said, it probably has potential. I did know the Pinto had double wishbones, oddly. Quite honestly, even though I'm not a Ford guy, I'd rather have a Pinto over both the Gremlin and the Pacer. If all were stock, that is. I'd be all over the Pacer you described.

The pinto was a halway decent car and the gas tank crisis is a bunch of malarkey.
Here is the pintos setup. the lower control arm isn't really a wishbone since it is mounted to a trailing arm looking thing, but it is close enough. People swap the pinto suspension into a lot of custom hot rods. The OHC pinto motor went on to become the ancestor to the engine in the turbo coupe thunderbirds and capris

I want that Gremmy so bad.....
